Donning the disguise of his alter-ego, Bianca, Richard plans to read the school to filth and take revenge against those who wronged him. When gay teacher Richard Martinez moves to a small town in Texas from NYC, he finds himself subsequently fired from his job. Handsome Devil is utterly charming with O’Shea and Galitzine being the highlights of the movie along with Andrew Scott. Unfortunately, however, the school’s homophobia is strong. Handsome Devil is a comedy-drama coming of age story set in the backdrop of a private Irish, rugby obsessed boarding school. The film celebrates differences and points out the outrageousness of hiding those differences.” GLAAD praised the film, focusing on “going beyond the stereotypes to see the characters’ depth and humanity. Williams and Lane have great chemistry together, which is definitely a plus. The Birdcage is not only considered a landmark gay movie, but also just a plain funny movie.
